Liverpool, Newcastle and Bayern ‘set to battle it out to sign Juventus winger Frederico Chiesa’… with the Italian giants ‘slapping a £38m price tag’ on the wantaway star

  • Frederico Chiesa is reportedly unhappy at Juventus after a difficult season
  • The winger struggled after being sidelined for 10 months due to injury
  • Juve will listen to offers in the region of £40m for the Italian star

Liverpool, Newcastle and Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in making a move for Frederico Chiesa this summer with the Italian winger said to be ‘unhappy’ at Juventus.

Chiesa, one of the stars of Italy’s European Championship triumph in 2021, had a difficult season after returning from an anterior cruciate ligament injury which kept him out of action for nearly 10 months.

He started just six league games and managed four goals in his 33 appearances in all competitions.

And Il Corriere dello Sport claim he is open to the idea of joining a new club as he no longer feels ‘centre of the project’ in Turin.

Liverpool have been watching the player closely for some time while Newcastle United and Bayern have registered their interest more recently.

The Italian paper says that Juve have set an asking price of £38m but they will no doubt be hoping to initiate a bidding war between the three clubs.

Chiesa has two years remaining on his current deal which sees him earn £154,000 a week.

The report also adds that Juve have begun looking for replacements with Nicolo Zaniolo and Wilfried Gnonto considered.

Chiesa joined The Old Lady on a two-year loan in 2022 with a £35m option to buy at the end of those 24 months.

Juventus took up that option last May while the player was recovering from his serious injury.
