Borussia Dortmund are willing to pay €35m (£30m) to sign Jadon Sancho back from Manchester United on a permanent deal this summer, according to reports from Germany.

Sancho re-signed for Dortmund during the January transfer window on a straight loan for the rest of the season. He was dropped from United’s first-team squad back in September for an outburst against manager Erik ten Hag on social media and refused to apologise.

90min revealed shortly after Sancho’s loan back to Signal Iduna Park was confirmed that his most likely route back into the fold at United would be if they changed manager due to the winger’s reluctance to make private and public apologies to Ten Hag.

Sky Sport Germany now claim that while Sancho would be open to making his move back to Dortmund permanent and on a long-term contract, both clubs are still weighing up what the next step should be.

The report adds that Dortmund are concerned by Sancho’s hefty salary – he earns nearly £300,000-a-week – and would only be willing to pay €35m (£30m) to sign him. United purchased the England international for €85m (£73m) and stand to make a staggering loss if they do agree to BVB’s valuation.

Making the move happen is described as a ‘mammoth task’ for Dortmund, with it being ‘almost unimaginable’ that a deal could be agreed for any higher than €35m.

Sancho has made 10 appearances for Dortmund since making his return, scoring once and assisting twice. While United were eliminated in the group stages of the Champions League, Dortmund are through to the quarter-finals, with Sancho scoring a crucial goal in their last 16 triumph against PSV Eindhoven.

Despite a recent return to form, Sancho faces an uphill battle to work his way back into the England picture ahead of Euro 2024. He was not named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the March internationals and has not featured for the Three Lions since October 2021.
