Ian Holloway has hit out at Manchester United’s current first-team stars for ‘not caring’ about the club and probed the attitudes of both Antony and Bruno Fernandes.

The former Crystal Palace, West Brom and QPR manager managed in the Premier League during the same time as United’s legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson and criticised how the club has been ran since his departure.

Holloway highlighted former United captain Roy Keane’s furious rant against Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk after the Dutchman hit-out at Ten Hag’s tactics deployed in the recent 1-1 draw between the two sides.

‘If you look at Roy Keane’s reaction to the interviews with Virgil Van Dijk, he was absolutely fuming. What’s wrong with Manchester United at the moment is that they have no one like Roy, no one who cares like him,’ Holloway told William Hill.

‘Where has that gone in football? When I look at Manchester City they do care. Rodri cares, Jack Grealish was gutted that they let that goal in. They didn’t want to blame anyone but when you’re used to winning that’s what it is all about.

‘Antony’s attitude is very questionable. If I look back to when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge, he never ever got anyone’s character wrong.

‘If any one of his players thought they were bigger and better than the club then he would have sorted that out. That’s where Manchester United are going wrong,’ he added.

Holloway further pinpointed where problems within the club began and suggested that current captain Fernandes doesn’t boast the leadership qualities needed to lead the squad.

Discipline has been a recurring issue for Ten Hag to deal with since he took over the managerial hotseat at Old Trafford last year.

The Dutchman first ousted Cristiano Ronaldo from the club after the Portuguese superstar slammed United in a public interview and is currently locked in a feud with Jadon Sancho.

Ten Hag banished Sancho from his first-team following the player’s scathing social media rant after defeat against Arsenal earlier in the season and has been in exile ever since.

Holloway also believes that problems in United’s dressing room when Paul Pogba previously returned to the club

However, Holloway believes problems within the dressing room started when Jose Mourinho brought Paul Pogba back to United for a club record £89m in 2016.

‘The problems started when Mourinho signed Paul Pogba. Sir Alex got rid of him because he thought he was bigger than the club, then Mourinho went and bought him back,’ added Holloway.

‘They used to have players who had the best attitude and wanted to win. Bruno Fernandes isn’t a leader, he just blames everyone else when what you need to do is go out there and lead your team.

‘That is what Roy Keane used to do, but I don’t think there are many of them around now,’ he said.
