Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has admitted that he’s having ‘a bad time’ with manager Rudi Garcia.

The Italian giants currently find themselves fifth in the Serie A table after eight games, picking up 14 points from four wins and two draws.

And, as rumours grow over a potential departure in the Napoli dugout, De Laurentiis has confirmed that he’s considering an ‘appropriate decision’ over Garcia’s future.

‘I will make appropriate decisions at the right time. The environment can’t influence me, one must always take time to think.

‘Every hasty decision is a wrong decision. In life, it’s not possible to have everything here and now. It is necessary to keep our heads down and work hard.

‘When you hire a coach who no longer knows Italian football, it’s normal to struggle, the same would have happened to everyone,’ he continued.

‘It’s useless to blame newcomers, football is not like a building under construction, which won’t collapse if you are sure it was built well.

‘In football, there are incidents, injuries, and suspensions. There is no mathematical solution to win the title and I believe we’ll be in the race until the end of this season.

‘Aside from choosing him, my only responsibility is that I could not remain close to him every day at Castel Volturno.’

Reports recently suggested that former Brighton and Chelsea boss Graham Potter is in the running to become the new Napoli boss, as De Laurentiis considers Garcia’s future.

The Napoli chairman also revealed that he interviewed two different managers prior to appointing Garcia, however neither were Potter.

‘I interviewed Thiago Motta, but he didn’t want to take the risk of replacing a coach who had achieved so much,’ said De Laurentiis.

‘I called Luis Enrique too and luckily he went to France. Look at the results he’s having. He didn’t convince me during a round of talks that lasted three days. I called many coaches.’

Former Spain boss Luis Enrique took over the PSG this summer but has struggled to get the Parisian giants firing in the early months of his tenure.

The French side currently sit third in the Ligue 1 table, two points behind league leaders Monaco.

Enrique’s side were also on the receiving end of a 4-1 hammering during their recent trip to Newcastle during a Champions League group stage clash.
