Pedro Porro has dropped a hint online that he could be set to return from injury sooner than expected, despite Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou stating that he would be out for ‘a couple of weeks’.

The full-back, who has been a pivotal member of the Australian’s squad this season, was ruled out of Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat by Wolves on Saturday.

His absence comes as a double injury blow for Spurs, with Destiny Udogie also missing Saturday’s defeat after coming off injured in the 80th minute of their 2-1 win against Brighton with an apparent injury.

Despite initial concerns, Udogie and Porro’s injuries have come at a good time for Tottenham, with the north London outfit not in action this weekend, after their match against Chelsea was postponed due to the Carabao Cup final. They’ll host Crystal Palace on Saturday, March 2 before travelling to Aston Villa the following weekend.

The Tottenham defender had been ruled out of last weekend’s game against Wolves with a muscle strain

But it appears Porro could be back in action sooner than we thought after posting a video of himself completing a rigorous gym session on his Tik Tok. He captioned the video ‘Back soon’ and was also asked by a Fantasy Premier League fan how long he’d be out for.

‘How long Porro, not sure whether to transfer you out of my team?’ the fan asked the defender.

The Spaniard replied: ‘Don’t sell me’ adding a ‘laughing face’ and a ‘strong arm’ emoji.

Porro has been in excellent form for Tottenham this season, starting in 23 Premier League matches while returning eight assists and one goal.

Despite having led the Premier League for several weeks, Tottenham have fallen off the pace of Arsenal and Manchester City, with Postecoglou’s side now fifth in the table on 47 points.

They have been hampered by a raft of injuries this season, particularly to key defenders, with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero both being absent for periods this season.

After their defeat by Wolves, Postecoglou claimed ‘I’m not a magician, but did not want to blame injuries for their loss to Wolves.

‘I’m not a magician, I’m a football manager,’ he said. ‘It’s hard work which these guys have done all year. We’ve got to this point, which is pretty decent, on the back of some hard work and that’s what we’ll keep doing.

‘We didn’t start the game well. We controlled the game well enough, we just weren’t threatening enough.

‘We’ve had a lot of injuries this year, we’ve certainly performed better than that when we have had injuries. So I don’t think that’s the reason. Our general level of performance wasn’t where it should be.’

Postecoglou also played down concerns over Udogie’s fitness, adding that he ‘didn’t think it was anything too serious’ and was hopeful that the defender should be back in time for their next fixture against Crystal Palace on March 2.
