Gameweek 25 of the 2023/24 Premier League season is sure to deliver another defining weekend of results at the top and bottom of the table.

The top four teams all won last time out, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal set for the next legs of their three-horse race for the title.

European spots are also at stake as the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and Manchester United plot late charges in the second half of the season, while strugglers at the bottom like Sheffield United and Burnley need points fast.

With some cracking fixtures on the cards, here’s how 90min sees Gameweek 25 playing out.

It’s Liverpool who kick off the action on Saturday. The Reds are without Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson through injury but could welcome back Mohamed Salah against Brentford, who’ll be hoping star forward Ivan Toney can rise to the occasion.

After losing to Manchester City and drawing with Fulham, Burnley suffered defeat to Liverpool in their last outing and things don’t get much easier as they prepare to welcome title hopefuls Arsenal to Turf Moor. The Gunners have won four matches on the trot, most recently rifling six past a beleaguered West Ham, and look set for another comfortable win.

Aston Villa‘s challenge for a top-four spot has been punctured by a run of one victory in four league games and they won’t have their dominant Villa Park form to rely on when they visit Fulham. The Cottagers have picked up 22 of their 29 points at home but will face a Villans outfit with a point to prove.

Newcastle have managed to pick up seven points from matches against Villa, Luton Town and Nottingham Forest and could snare three more in a tight encounter with Bournemouth, whose excellent spell looks to have come to an end.

Tottenham left it late to beat Brighton, stretching their unbeaten run in the league to five games, and they’ll hope to have enough firepower to blitz past Wolves, who were dealt a major blow when in-form forward Matheus Cunha suffered a significant hamstring injury.

Saturday’s evening kick-off has been a tight fixture in previous years. However, the large gap in quality between Manchester City – rampant off the back of 11 straight wins in all competitions – and Chelsea is huge. The Blues did show character to earn a late victory at Crystal Palace on Monday night, but this test is likely to end with a comprehensive defeat.

Brighton traded blows with Spurs but ended up being knocked out in the dying embers. On Sunday, however, the Seagulls visit a ground they’ve already won at this season when they take on Sheffield Utd. The two teams met in the fourth round of the FA Cup as the Blades suffered a 5-2 thumping at Bramall Lane.

Smiles have returned to the faces of Man Utd players. The late winner at Villa has reignited their Champions League aspirations and a similar result Luton would only increase the optimism in Erik ten Hag’s camp. Kenilworth Road has proven to be a tough venue for the Premier League’s top dogs to visit so far in 2023/24, however, so a tight game could be in store.

Monday night sees two English managers under pressure meet at Goodison Park when Sean Dyche’s Everton host Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace. Five points separate the sides but the Toffees haven’t lost to the Eagles in any of their last six meetings.

Hodgson is unlikely to be on the touchline after being taken to hospital.
