Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he expects England’s Jude Bellingham to withdraw from international duty and return to Spain.

The 20-year-old suffered a dislocated shoulder during Los Blancos 0-0 draw with Rayo Vallecano in La Liga last Sunday.

Ancelotti initially expected his star midfielder to be available for Real Madrid’s game against Valencia this weekend.

Speaking after the game the Madrid manager disclosed that he expects Bellingham to return to the Spanish capital after getting his injury looked at by England’s medical staff.

Ancelotti did confirm Bellingham would travel home in order to be assessed by England’s doctors, but said he should not play.

‘If he didn’t play today, he can’t play with England. He has to do specific work to strengthen his shoulder and he will do that in the coming weeks.

‘After the international break I think he will be able to play again.’

‘I think he will be back because he won’t play with them (England) either’.

The news also comes after James Maddison was forced to withdraw from the squad following an ankle injury sustained during Tottenham’s 4-1 loss to rivals Chelsea.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate picked Bellingham in his squad that is set to take on Malta and North Macedonia in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

With England already qualified for the tournament in Germany after a convincing 3-1 win over Italy, Southgate may choose to rest Bellingham.

However England are still looking to secure one of the top six seeds for the tournament, so will undoubtedly field a decent outfit for both games.
