Speaking about his experience playing and coaching in derbies, the Portuguese boss said: ‘I have always understood that for a Chelsea fan, a game against Manchester City is not the same as a game against Arsenal. That for Inter, a game against Roma is not the same as a game against Juventus.

‘I understand what a derby means. The derby we played was an important derby.’

It was after his team’s elimination from the Coppa Italia quarterfinals with a 1-0 loss to Lazio that he dubbed himself ‘Jose ‘Harry Potter’ Mourinho’.

Having compared himself to the famous wizard from J.K Rowling’s books, Mourinho iterated that he was committed to the club, despite his contract expiring at the end of the season.

Mourinho asserted that he has heightened expectations for the club because of his successful coaching career.

Roma currently sit in ninth place in the Serie A table, four points off fourth placed Fiorentina, as they look for a spot in the Champions League next season.

Having managed the likes of Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Manchester United, Mourinho has become one of the most decorated football managers of all time.
