Sean Dyche has tested positive for Covid and will miss Burnley‘s FA Cup game against Huddersfield this weekend, the club have confirmed.

The 50-year-old is now in self-isolation but will not be on the touchline for the third round clash on Saturday.

‘Burnley Football Club can confirm manager Sean Dyche will miss this weekend’s FA Cup third round tie at home to Huddersfield Town, after testing positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday,’ the Clarets announced on Thursday.

The Athletic reports that Dyche is asymptomatic and assistant manager Ian Woan will undertake pre-march media duties and will be in the dugout on Saturday afternoon.

Burnley have suffered four postponements so far this season, the first of which – against Tottenham – was due to snow, while three others were for Covid-related reasons in their opponents’ squads.

Dyche becomes the latest manager forced to miss his side in action with Jurgen Klopp, Mikel Arteta, Steven Gerrard, Patrick Vieira and Eddie Howe all having to watch from afar due to positive tests this season.

If all goes to plan, Dyche could be back in the dugout for the Clarets’ next league game at home to Leicester, on Saturday January 15, after serving his self-isolation period.
