Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is reportedly set to leave the club in January after Mauricio Pochettino has been handed ‘total control’ over transfers this winter.

This comes after the Cobham graduate rejected a move to Nottingham Forest on transfer deadline day in the summer in hopes of securing a loan to Bayern Munich.

Currently sidelined with an injury, Chalobah is yet to make an appearance under Pochettino.

The report suggests that, after the Argentine was handed ‘total transfer control’, Chalobah has been made available for transfer.

It is expected by both sides that Chalobah will leave the club in January, with it believed that Bayern Munich are poised to return for the Englishman.

The sale of Chalobah is seen as beneficial to Chelsea, who are ‘conscious’ that this would represent 100 per cent profic against their FFP record.

Pochettino has previously spoken about Chalobah’s future as he admitted that the defender was open to leaving his boyhood club in the summer.

“If an offer appears, it is because another part of the club accepted it to move or they were trying to find a solution or the player wanted to leave,’ he said. ‘You cannot only blame the club, if an offer appears for Jesus [Perez, my assistant], it is because Jesus was open to receiving the offer, no?

‘It is always easy to blame the club and blame the club. In the same way, maybe the player was thinking in pre-season or before the season to move in one direction.

‘If after that didn’t happen, then I am fair with the player. I will give them a chance to perform and play here.’

It remains to be seen as to whether Nottingham Forest will return for the player, whose preference would still be a move to Bayern Munich and a reunion with former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
