The real reason behind the supposed frosty interaction between Jude Bellingham’s mum Denise and his new girlfriend Ashlyn Castro has been revealed.

Bellingham was spotted watching Real Madrid’s game against Girona on Saturday alongside American model Castro and Denise.

The midfielder missed the game through suspension after being sent off in his side’s draw with Osasuna when referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero dismissed the England international for swearing.

However, one moment during the game seemed to cause controversy involving the footballer’s mum and his new partner.

As the TV cameras panned to the high-end area where Bellingham was watching the game, a screengrab that circulated on social media appeared to show Denise giving a side-eye to Castro.

However, a new clip has emerged showing that the screengrab had been taken out of context

A side-eye glance is usually interpreted as expressing disapproval or contempt towards somebody and fans were quick to react to the moment.

However, it has since been revealed that the screengrab took their interaction out of context.

In fact, a short video of the moment was subsequently shared on social media where Denise and Castro appeared to share a joke.

The initial shot of Denise looking towards her son’s new partner was seemingly an attempt to get her attention, before the pair were seen laughing.

Denise is a hugely important figure to the 21-year-old after she moved with him to Madrid when he joined the club in the summer of 2023 to help handle his affairs and schedule.

They are said to share a flat in the city’s lavish La Finca district, where luxurious villas cost more than £20million.

She previously relocated to Germany when Bellingham joined Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham back in 2020, while her husband Mark is based with Jobe Bellingham, 19, who plays for Sunderland.  

Bellingham was first seen in public alongside Castro when Real flew home from Manchester Airport following the first leg of their Champions League clash against Manchester City.

The 27-year-old American met the midfielder’s parents and chatted to them in their family box at the Bernabeu during Real Madrid’s 5-1 win over Red Bull Salzburg last month

During their appearance at the Bernabeu, Bellingham was seen wearing an all-black turtle neck as he sat in the stands to the left of Castro and Denise.

As the couple were displayed on the big screen, Castro donned a smile, while Bellingham remained straight-faced.

Castro had already met the midfielder’s parents and chatted to his mum Denise and dad Mark in the family box at the Bernabeu during Madrid’s 5-1 win over Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League on January 22.

She has over 265,000 followers on Instagram and was previously linked with Hollywood actor Michael B Jordan and NBA stars LaMelo Ball and Terance Mann, although there were rumours that the relationship with Bellingham began before the end of her previous romance.

Castro and Mann are said to have stopped dating last November, around the time she and Jude began to interact, but sources close to the model denied this.

This has seemingly been confirmed by Castro’s ex, LA Clippers guard Mann, who ended the rumours on a TikTok live stream.

‘Ashlyn is cool, people,’ Mann told his viewers. ‘I don’t know why everybody is on her head about anything. She’s cool. Me and Ash are cool.’

He added that he was certain Castro was not unfaithful and that people should ‘calm that narrative down’.

Castro, who hails from LA, appears to live a varied and artistic life based off her exploits on Instagram.

The model has shared photographs from art galleries, skyscraper bars, mountain landscapes, and the gym, along with several selfies.

Meanwhile, Bellingham saw his side earn a comfortable 2-0 win on Saturday thanks to goals from Vinicius Jnr and Luka Modric.

With the win, Madrid once again moved level on points with arch rivals Barcelona in LaLiga, but they remain second on goal difference.
