Upson Jr swaps Tottenham for Arsenal, Burnley in talks over £28m sale to Leipzig.. and Wolves close in on £8m Rafiki Said: WINDOW WATCH

The summer market is back in full swing, with the transfer window open until September 1 and clubs across the game preparing to move quickly as they shape their squads for the new season.

Here are the latest transfer updates from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

Coventry in talks over £20m Burnley winger

Coventry City are holding discussions over a proposed £20million move for Burnley winger Loum Tchaouna.

The club are also working through the final details of Aurele Amenda’s switch from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Switzerland international is expected to complete the transfer once he undergoes a medical following the World Cup.

Harrison set for age of Revolution

Leeds United wide man Jack Harrison is discussing a potential move to New England Revolution.

The 29-year-old began his professional career with New York City and spent part of last season on loan at Fiorentina, although his wages may still prove a stumbling block.

New England are also in talks to sign former Arsenal and Nottingham Forest keeper Matt Turner from Lyon.

Kansas fear Salah is set on Europe

Kansas City have made a pitch for Mohamed Salah but all the indications are he would prefer a move to Europe after leaving Liverpool.

The Egypt winger, who has returned home after being involved in the World Cup, has also been linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, including Al-Hilal and Al-Qadsiah.

Upson Jr swaps Spurs for Arsenal

Elijah Upson, the former Tottenham defender, has chosen to join Arsenal.

The 18-year-old turned down a professional deal at Spurs earlier this year and had offers from Chelsea, Manchester City, Everton, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Leverkusen and Monaco.

However, after visiting Arsenal’s training ground on Wednesday and holding talks with his family, he has decided to join the Premier League champions.

He follows a similar path to his father, Matthew, who had two of his formative years with Luton Town before joining Arsenal for £2m as an 18-year-old. He later went on to represent England at the World Cup and earned 21 caps.

Upson Jr, a centre back, will hope he can build a similar career. He is a quick, perhaps thanks to the fact his mother is former runner Ellie Darby, but is also strong on the ball.

Arsenal will now look to agree compensation with Tottenham as Upson is under 24.

Vardy returns to Leicester for training

Jamie Vardy was at Leicester City’s training ground for fitness testing. The 39-year-old free agent wanted to gauge his levels, though the current heatwave made it difficult for everyone to give optimum figures.

On Friday, the 39-year-old posted a video on Instagram of him conducting some fitness drills at Seagrave inside the dome at the heart of the training centre. In the video, Vardy is spotted wearing the club’s new training kit and chatting to City’s Head of Fitness and Conditioning, Matt Reeves.

However, he is not planning a return to Leicester City.

Max value with Burnley in £28m talks

Burnley are in negotiations with RB Leipzig to sell highly rated defender Maxime Esteve for around £28million.

Talks are ongoing as Burnley have also confirmed Nicky Hayen as head coach on a three-year contract.

He joins from Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk.

Hammers ask about wide man Sorba

West Ham are among the clubs showing interest in Stoke City winger Sorba Thomas.

Talks are very much at the early stages but the Hammers have made enquiries about the Wales international, 27, on the back of an impressive season where the winger scored 10 goals.

Meanwhile, Cologne are continuing to try to find the financial package to suit West Ham and Mexico midfielder Edson Alvarez.

Cologne’s director of football is Tim Steidten, who worked for West Ham and was responsible for bringing Alvarez to England in 2023.

Leicester say no to Nelson’s Torino move

Leicester City have rejected a £6m offer for centre back Ben Nelson from Torino. Daily Mail Sport revealed last month that the Italian side were keen on the 22-year-old, who can also play left back, and has a number of clubs monitoring his situation.

The former England U20 international has been on the radar of Manchester United previously and other Premier League sides.

However, he is keen on the move to Torino if they can agree a fee.

Galatasaray in loan talks for former Chelsea star

Galatasaray remain in talks with Burnley over a proposed loan with obligation to buy for Lesley Ugochukwu.

The former Chelsea midfielder is keen on the move to Turkey but a fee and other details have still to be agreed.
