Massive telecom bust in major city is ‘wake-up call’ as foreign adversaries threaten US security: experts

The U.S. Secret Service has recently taken down an extensive telecommunications network that was secretly operating in the New York City region, presenting investigators with a significant discovery related to national security threats.

This operation represents one of the most significant communication threats ever found in the nation, revealing more than 300 SIM servers equipped with over 100,000 SIM cards across various locations in the tri-state area. These servers had the potential to send up to 30 million text messages every minute, as reported by The Associated Press.

“The risk posed by this network to our country’s telecommunications systems is immense,” stated U.S. Secret Service Director Sean Curran on September 23rd. “Our mission is to prevent threats, and this investigation serves as a stern warning to potential wrongdoers that any immediate threats to our protected individuals will be rapidly investigated, located, and eradicated.”

“I’ve never encountered anything like this, especially on such a large scale,” Mauro mentioned to Fox News Digital. “Fraud related to phones and cyber activities like scanning websites for credit card numbers is common, but I’ve never seen a server farm of this magnitude set up on U.S. soil.”
