“We had a significant presence on the ground, but the experience was remarkable,” he remarked during a speech at a House GOP retreat in Washington, DC.

Trump shared various operational insights with Republican lawmakers, explaining that the US strategically cut power to key areas in Venezuela just before the mission commenced.

This maneuver provided the military with the advantage of surprise as they closed in on Maduro’s stronghold.

“Consider this: no casualties on our side,” Trump noted.

“Yet, the opposition suffered heavy losses.”

Trump went on to criticise Democrats for airing concerns about the decision to capture Maduro, complaining that few in the party were congratulating him.

“At some point they should say, you know, ‘You did a great job,’” he said.

“‘Thank you, congratulations.’ Wouldn’t it be good?”
