Baptist Health/Wolfson Children’s Hospital to drop 'clinical services' provided by UF Health

Now, those services will be provided by Nemours Children’s Health, taking UF Health by surprise.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville is North Florida’s only children’s hospital and part of Baptist Health.

Wolfson touts on its website its collaborative work with Nemours Children’s Health as well as the UF Health College of Medicine.

This week came an announcement that the connection with UF Health is about to disintegrate.

On Monday, Baptist Health and Wolfson Children’s Hospital announced they would end their collaboration with UF Health. They stated that Nemours Children’s Health would now take over the clinical services that UF Health previously handled at Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

But the cord isn’t completely cut.

Baptist/Wolfson additionally expressed their intention to remain the primary pediatric teaching hospital for the University of Florida College of Medicine.

This news took UF Health by surprise.

In response, UF Health expressed disappointment, stating, “It came as both a surprise and a disheartening development to learn that Baptist Health/Wolfson Children’s Hospital decided on its own to terminate the longstanding clinical partnership with our health system and our College of Medicine in Jacksonville.”

Both Baptist and UF Health say the transition will not take place until the first quarter of 2026.

First Coast News asked Baptist if the UF Health employees will have to reapply for their positions.

Baptist responded to First Coast News saying, “Team members’ employment at Wolfson Children’s Hospital is not impacted by this change. Impacted providers are employed by UF Health – not Wolfson Children’s Hospital.”

First Coast News was advised to ask UF Health about jobs that could be impacted. We did. We have not received a response.
