Anthropic is making strides in the AI world by enhancing its Claude AI chatbot with features designed to ease the transition for users switching from competing platforms. The latest update includes a memory functionality now available to users on the free plan, accompanied by a new prompt and a specialized tool for importing data from other chatbots. These enhancements aim to assist those migrating from rivals such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini, allowing them to transfer the accumulated data their previous AI has gathered, thus preventing the need to reteach Claude from scratch.

Previously, the capability to import and export memories with Claude was introduced in October, coinciding with the option to activate Claude’s memory. Initially exclusive to paid subscribers, this functionality is now accessible to all users. To enable this feature, users can navigate to “settings” and then “capabilities.” Within this menu, users will also discover the new memory importing tool. This tool requires users to copy a pre-composed prompt into their former AI, then transfer the resulting output back into Claude’s importing feature.

As Claude gains traction, thanks to tools like Claude Code and Claude Cowork, Anthropic is rolling out this enhanced memory importing tool. The company recently unveiled its new Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6 models, claiming these iterations are more adept at coding and completing intricate tasks, such as managing spreadsheets or filling out forms efficiently.

Anthropic’s rising popularity is also attributed to its firm stance against the Pentagon’s demands to relax restrictions on its AI models. The company has publicly declared its commitment to maintaining “red lines” concerning mass surveillance and autonomous lethal weapons, reflecting its ethical considerations in AI development.
