Grokipedia, the AI-written online encyclopedia from xAI that Elon Musk previously framed as a “massive improvement” over Wikipedia, appears to have gone quiet. According to a new report from Lawfare, the platform does not seem to have received any updates since April 24th. “As far as we can tell, no entry has changed in more than three months,” the outlet reported.
The Elon Musk-backed encyclopedia debuted as version 0.1 in October 2025, arriving with roughly 885,000 AI-generated articles. It has since moved to version 0.2, released in November 2025, and now lists more than 6 million total articles on grokipedia.com/live. Still, that same live-tracking page includes a “Recent changes to…” section that currently displays the message: “No live edits available right now.”
Visitors can still submit suggestions for new Grokipedia articles or propose changes to existing entries. But Lawfare said its review of both high-traffic and lower-profile pages found no signs that those suggestions were being acted on. After examining 34,519 pages in its sample that had at least one proposed edit — totaling 225,496 recommended changes — the outlet said it found no corrections marked as accepted or rejected within the past three months.
xAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Meanwhile, some users on Reddit and X have begun questioning whether Grokipedia is effectively “dead.” Lawfare also pointed out that Musk’s most recent X post mentioning Grokipedia dates back to February.
