Google Calendar is now on the Apple Watch

Apple’s built-in calendar app for watchOS allows for various customization options, such as viewing a week summary or the entire month. In contrast, the Google Calendar app on your Apple Watch displays only a week’s worth of events, along with their times and locations. Additionally, Google Tasks are presented in a straightforward list, with the day of the week shown in the top corner as you scroll through.

For more details about an event, you can tap on it, though the information is quite limited. For further specifics, the app suggests you “Open Calendar on your phone to view more.” 9to5Google notes that the app’s features are quite similar to those on Wear OS devices.

There are also two home screen complications available. One is a circular display showing Today’s date, including the day of the week and date. The other, titled What’s next, can appear as a circle, rectangle, or Smart Stack widget, and it displays your upcoming appointment. Both complications can be tapped to launch the Google Calendar app on watchOS.

Although it may be a welcome option for those who want as much Google on their Apple Watch as possible (Google Keep, Maps, and YouTube Music are the only other watchOS apps the company offers) the standard calendar app can already sync with your Google Calendar and lets you see more details for a given event.
