iOS 26.3 makes it easier to switch to Android

In a new wave of updates, Apple unveiled iOS 26 on Wednesday, introducing a streamlined method for transitioning from an iPhone to an Android device. This innovative feature, highlighted by 9to5Mac, simplifies the data transfer process between the two platforms. By merely placing the devices side by side, users can now seamlessly move apps, photos, messages, and even their phone number. Previously, this transition often involved downloading both Apple and Google’s data transfer applications or manually transferring all data and apps, a cumbersome and time-consuming process.

Additionally, the iOS 26.3 update brings noteworthy improvements for iPhone users within the European Union, specifically regarding the interaction with third-party wearables. The “notification forwarding” feature allows users to read full notifications on non-Apple wearables and select which apps can send notifications. This enhancement aligns the experience with that of the Apple Watch, fostering greater compatibility between iPhones and non-Apple smartwatches. These developments are part of Apple’s efforts to adhere to the EU’s Digital Markets Act, enhancing interoperability by ensuring features like notification functionality work seamlessly across devices.

For those eager to explore these new features, downloading iOS 26.3 is straightforward. Simply open the Settings app on your iPhone, navigate to “General,” and select “Software Update.” If your device is compatible, the option to download and install iOS 26.3 should appear. If it doesn’t, it might be worth verifying your device’s compatibility with the new iOS version.
