Microsoft has discreetly announced that it will cease introducing new features to Office apps (Microsoft 365) for Windows 10 users starting in August 2026. Even though security updates for Office apps on Windows 10 will continue until October 2028, the integration of new features will gradually end next year.

For Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers, new features will be discontinued on Windows 10 in August 2026, and this change will simultaneously affect Current Channel business users. Following this, Microsoft will end new Office feature support for monthly enterprise channel users on October 13th, 2026, and subsequently for semi-annual enterprise channel users on January 12th, 2027.

Earlier this year, Microsoft had to backtrack on its decision regarding security updates for Office apps on Windows 10, but it did not disclose that new feature support would end starting in 2026. This update implies that to access the latest Microsoft 365 features, an upgrade to Windows 11 will be necessary. Windows 10 will reach its end of life on October 14th, and Microsoft is committed to providing security updates for Office apps on Windows 10 until October 10th, 2028.
