The Nvidia application is set to see enhancements this week, with updates to DLSS override, expanded control panel capabilities, and modifications to Project G-Assist. Over the past 18 months, Nvidia has been progressively refining its new app, aiming to integrate all legacy control panel functions seamlessly into it.
This week’s update to the Nvidia app will bring features such as anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing, and ambient occlusion into the app, eliminating the need to switch back to Nvidia’s older control panel for optimizing classic games. The Nvidia Surround setup tool will also be included in the app now.
Additionally, users will no longer need to configure DLSS override settings individually for each game, as Nvidia introduces a global configuration option. This allows you to establish DLSS preferences universally for all supported games, and Nvidia’s overlay will display the active DLSS settings if this option is enabled.
Nvidia’s Smooth Motion feature, once limited to RTX 50-series GPUs, is now available to owners of the RTX 40-series. This driver-based AI model enhances gameplay smoothness in games that lack DLSS Frame Generation. Smooth Motion supports games utilizing DLSS Super Resolution, native resolution, or other upscaling methods, effectively doubling the “perceived frame rate,” according to Nvidia.
Nvidia’s G-Assist AI assistant will also receive an upgrade, with a revised AI model that reduces memory usage by 40 percent. Despite the reduced memory footprint, the system is optimized to maintain performance, ensuring quicker response times to queries.
These latest Nvidia app changes will arrive on August 19th for beta users at 9AM PT / 12PM ET, followed by a general release next week.
