While companies such as DJI strive to miniaturize wireless wearable microphones to make them as discreet as possible, many content creators still opt for a handheld microphone. As wired headphones gain popularity again, Plantronics has introduced the Conch One, a set of USB-C earbuds where the microphone is attached via a short cable rather than being part of the inline remote.
Portronics primarily sells its products on Amazon, but the Conch One earbuds are initially available only through its own website and Amazon India for ₹1,999, which is approximately $23. These earbuds are equipped with 14.2mm drivers, promising good bass performance. The inline remote features controls for volume and playback, a mic button, and a special mode button. A long press of this button switches between a listening mode with four different EQ settings to enhance audio playback and a karaoke mode offering eight different configurations.
Content creators often attach their wireless mics to unusual objects like forks to make them handheld, but these earbuds present a more affordable and straightforward option, functioning for as long as your phone remains powered. However, if the primary use is for phone calls, they might be less convenient than inline mics, which are usually positioned close to the mouth to capture speech. In contrast, the Conch One’s mic might dangle too far when not in use, making hands-free operation challenging.
