Three new DJI drones may be on the way

DJI appears to be gearing up to launch three new drones in the upcoming months: the Mini 5 Pro, Avata 3, and Neo 2, as reported by DroneXL. The publication shared leaked photos and videos of these drones, along with a new FCC filing indicating that DJI might also be developing a new action camera, named the DJI Osmo Nano.

A video posted by DroneXL features two drones that might be successors to the Avata 2 and DJI’s charming Neo. According to DroneXL, there are notable changes, like the Avata 3’s battery positioned further back and a bigger camera unit in the front. It has adopted four-blade propellers, in contrast to the Avata 2’s three-blade version. Accompanying the Avata 3 is what seems to be a Neo 2 prototype, although details are scarce beyond the redesigned propeller guards compared to its predecessor.

Recently, DroneXL highlighted an FCC filing that disclosed details about the unannounced Mini 5 Pro. The documentation reveals the Mini 5 Pro will feature a substantial 33.5Wh battery, a significant upgrade from the Mini 4 Pro’s 18.9Wh. The filing supports speculation that the Mini 5 Pro could offer video streaming capabilities from a distance of up to 25 kilometers (15.5 miles), extending its range by 5 kilometers over its previous model. This enhanced range brings it close to the DJI Mavic 4 Pro, which was inexplicably made available in the US despite initial plans. The Mini 5 Pro is anticipated to be released in September.

Rounding out DroneXL’s rumor post is a newly-published FCC filing for the DJI Osmo Nano, a new wearable action camera that appears to have a modular display like the Action line. The outlet notes that the company is also expected to release a Mic 3 and Osmo 360 camera, though it doesn’t have any solid guesses about when they’re coming.
