Google has introduced a new feature allowing prominent creators and publishers in the United States to establish personalized profiles on its Search platform. These profiles are designed to showcase content such as videos, articles, and links to other online platforms. However, this opportunity is not open to everyone; it is reserved for individuals with significant online followings. Specifically, eligible users must have at least 100,000 subscribers on YouTube, 100,000 followers on Instagram or X, or 300,000 followers on TikTok, and they must be at least 18 years old to create a Search profile.
In promotional videos, Google illustrates how these Search profiles can include links to websites and social media platforms, a brief bio, featured media from platforms like TikTok and Instagram, and a consolidated feed of posts from various sources. For example, The Verge has already launched its own profile, which you can view and follow.
While Google already offers knowledge panels for prominent individuals and organizations, these new profiles provide users with greater control over the information displayed. This feature serves as a potential alternative to link-in-bio services like Linktree, which creators commonly use to centralize their digital presence.
