Adobe’s Project Indigo camera finally adds iPhone 17 support

Adobe encountered challenges with its computational photography application, Project Indigo, when adapting it to the innovative square-format selfie sensor in Apple’s iPhone 17 series. Over the past month, the app was incompatible with the latest iPhones, leaving users without support. While Adobe diligently worked on a solution, providing periodic updates via the Adobe Community forums, the company ultimately decided to disable access to the front-facing camera. This move was necessary to release a functional version of Project Indigo that supports the iPhone 17.

Launched in June, Project Indigo quickly attracted users who appreciated its gentle approach to image processing, offering an alternative to the default iPhone camera app. However, the introduction of new sensors in the iPhone 17 series posed significant challenges. An upcoming update in iOS 26.1 is expected to restore selfie camera functionality for the app. Until then, iPhone 17 users will have to rely solely on the app’s compatibility with the rear camera.
