It’s the season for Android flagships in China, and today, Oppo has taken center stage by unveiling its latest models, the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro. These new releases boast top-of-the-line specifications, particularly focusing on their camera and battery technologies. Distinct from its sister company OnePlus, Oppo continues its collaboration with Hasselblad, even introducing a branded telephoto extender lens. A global launch is anticipated later this month.

Having spent a couple of days with the Find X9 Pro, equipped with the Hasselblad lens, I am preparing a comprehensive review. For now, I can offer a glimpse of my review unit along with some sample images captured with its camera.

The Find X9 Pro features an outstanding triple rear camera system, spearheaded by a 200-megapixel, 3x telephoto lens used for all sample captures shared below. Although OnePlus has ended its partnership with Hasselblad, Oppo remains committed, incorporating Hasselblad’s color tuning, filters, and an ultra-wide option inspired by the XPan format. The iconic Hasselblad logo is prominently displayed on both the phone and the new telephoto extender lens.

Interestingly, this telephoto extender bears a striking resemblance to the one I reviewed with the Vivo X200 Ultra earlier this year, with only minor design variations. However, Oppo’s version offers a 3.28x zoom, surpassing Vivo’s 2.35x. While Vivo and Oppo were once under the umbrella of BBK Electronics, they now operate independently. The similarities likely stem from both companies utilizing the same accessory manufacturer, PGYTech, for their equipment.

Oppo’s package includes a magnetic ring light and a camera grip. However, it’s uncertain if these elements will be part of the global release, as I only received the telephoto lens and the necessary case for attachment. I plan to conduct further testing before my full review, but for now, here are some images captured using the lens at its default 10x zoom capability.

In line with other prominent Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Honor, Oppo has focused on increasing battery capacity in this year’s flagship devices. They’ve utilized silicon-carbon designs to offer larger batteries without compromising the phone’s slim profile. The Find X9 Pro boasts an impressive 7,500mAh battery, rivaling Xiaomi’s 17 Pro Max, while the Find X9 features a slightly smaller 7,025mAh battery, promising up to two days of usage as per Oppo. Unlike Honor, Oppo has not provided any details about offering smaller battery versions outside China, hinting that global users might enjoy the same extended battery life.

Both phones use the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset instead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, though that still means flagship power. They also feature both a customizable AI button and Oppo’s returning touch-sensitive camera shutter button. Both are fairly large phones, with a 6.78-inch display on the Pro, and the regular Find X9 only a little smaller at 6.59 inches, and they have IP69 ratings for durability.

They launch with ColorOS 16, Oppo’s take on Android 16. That brings with it AI upgrades, lock screen customization options inspired by iOS 16, and improvements to Oppo’s clever tech that allows interoperability with both Windows and Mac computers.

The two Find X9 phones were announced for the Chinese market today, where the Find X9 costs ¥4,399 (around $615) and the Pro is ¥5,299 (around $740).The rest of the world won’t have long to wait — an international launch is scheduled for October 28th in Barcelona.
