In a notable development for gamers, Valve has substantially raised the price of its Steam Deck, but the good news is that it is now readily available for purchase. The 512GB model of the Steam Deck OLED is now priced at $789, a jump from its previous $549 tag, while the 1TB variant is now $949, up from $649. Both models are currently purchasable through Steam, boasting an estimated shipping window of three to five business days.
Valve attributes this price hike to the increasing costs of memory and storage components. While the Steam Deck itself remains unchanged in terms of features, the company explains that “these new prices reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges across the industry as a whole.” They assure customers that updates will be provided should circumstances evolve.
Additionally, for those seeking a more budget-friendly option, Valve has made some refurbished models available. The refurbished 512GB OLED Steam Deck is listed at $629, and the 1TB OLED model is available for $759.
Earlier in February, Valve updated the Steam Deck listing, noting that the device would experience intermittent stock shortages in certain regions due to the ongoing memory and storage deficit. This shortage has also posed challenges for Valve’s upcoming launches of the Steam Machine and Steam Frame, initially slated for an early 2026 release. However, due to component shortages, these launches are now anticipated to occur later this year.
Meanwhile, Valve successfully launched the Steam Controller on May 4th. This release followed its announcement alongside the Steam Machine and Steam Frame late last year, despite the hurdles in the supply chain affecting other products.
