“The Last Kingdom” is a British television series released in October 2015 through BBC America and BBC Two, both in the United States and the United Kingdom.

For its third season, the series became original Netflix content.

Since its fourth instalment on the streaming platform since April 2020, questions are now geared towards a possible fifth SEASON.

WILL “THE LAST KINGDOM” GET RENEWED FOR A NEW INSTALLMENT?

“The Last Kingdom” has had a somewhat distant release pattern for being a great product and always changing production houses. The first season aired in October 2015, but the show did not return until March 2017.

For its third season, Netflix took over part of the production, and it was released in November 2018, and season 4 of “The Last Kingdom” launched in April of this year 2020.

All of this suggests that it would be around a year and a half until the release of season 5 of “The Last Kingdom “, which would be approximately around October 2021.

However, the coronavirus pandemic probably means that any product in series renewed can’t start until later, so it’s entirely possible that season 5 of the drama series won’t hit Netflix until sometime in 2022.

To date, Netflix has not officially confirmed any series returns, so fans will have to wait a little longer to find out when it will be renewed for the next part. This will be the case, primarily due to the story left by the fourth season of “The Last Kingdom.”

This would leave the series with yet another four books to adapt, which would mean there would also be a sixth season. Following this logic, the next books to adapt would be “Warriors of the Storm” and “The Flame Bearer” for part 5, where Uhtred’s attempts to claim Bebelfburg from Aelfric will continue to be shown.
