Throughout 2025, Megan Thee Stallion has largely turned her attention to pursuits beyond the music scene. The Houston native dropped a standalone track titled “Whenever” in April and ventured into television by hosting the Apple TV competition series KPopped in August. This show brought together Western musicians with K-pop stars to reinvent their popular songs. During the summer, she also began a new chapter in her personal life, entering a romantic relationship with Dallas Mavericks player Klay Thompson.

Their budding romance inspired Megan’s latest release, aptly named “Lover Girl.” This track creatively samples Total’s 1996 classic “Kissin’ You,” transforming it into a love anthem brimming with Megan’s signature flair.

In the song, Megan raps, “Your n***a fantasy, my man reality / I had to lock in when I found out he could handle me / Some n***as call me extra, my n***a call me pressure / This s**t be easy when you find somebody on your level.” She continues, “My n***a say ‘My lady,’ he never say ‘My b***h” / Some n***as make excuses, he make that s**t exist / Most n***as want attention, my n***a give me his.” She even hints at marriage, declaring she’s “the type of fine [to] make a n***a run to that altar.”

Evidently, Megan is thriving both personally and professionally at this juncture.

In July, she shared with Page Six how this relationship has brought her joy, stating, “I have never dated somebody so kind. This is my first relationship where I’ve ever been with somebody who’s genuinely a nice person, and he makes me genuinely happy. I just never dated somebody like him before and I’m just grateful that he’s here by my side and he feels the same way about me.”

Beyond her personal happiness, Megan continues to relish the creative freedom she gained after parting ways with 1501 Certified Entertainment in 2023. Last year, she released two major projects: her third studio album Megan and its follow-up, Megan: Act II.

“I have the freedom to say whatever I want to say and put something out whenever I feel like it,” she told Vogue last fall. “That’s why I was able to even put out two projects in one year… I literally can just wake up and decide to do it again tomorrow.”

Still, it doesn’t come without its challenges. “The other side is that I really am now my own boss, so I have to worry about the business side and the artist side,” she confessed. “I’m still kind of navigating my way through [that]. I’ve always considered myself a boss, but now I’m really in the boss seat.”
