Reportedly, James took his last breath and died peacefully on Saturday evening, surrounded by his family and close friends. Twitter mourns his death, and tributes have poured in via Twitter ever since.
On Saturday, Comox Mayor, Russ Arnott, confirmed the death via Facebook post with the statement, Stocky’s intelligence, warmth, and energy never ceased to amaze us.”
Mayor Bob Wells of Courtenay, B.C. wrote, “Edwards was a heroic man of great character and conviction, and yet he was consistently humble, charming, and kind.”
