Mellor wrote and directed the feature film Fanny and Elvis, starring Ray Winstone, which received the Audience Prize at the Dinard British Film Festival in 1999, as well as the one-off play Some Kind of Life, which was nominated for a BAFTA and won the Prix Niki Award.
Kay’s drama series Love, Lies, and Records, starring Ashley Jensen and Rebecca Front, aired on BBC One in November and December 2017. Girlfriends, Kay’s ITV drama series starring Miranda Richardson, Zo Wanamaker, and Phyllis Logan, launched in January 2018.
Kay transformed Fat Friends into a theatrical musical in 2017, with music by Nick Lloyd Webber. In 2018, Fat Friends The Musical toured the United Kingdom. Kay then modified Band of Gold, which toured the United Kingdom from 2019 until the COVID-19 pandemic.
