A 60-year-old man tragically lost his life on December 9, 2024, after being discovered on a secluded property in North Nowra.
Authorities found him near a gas pipeline clearing, suffering from severe head injuries. Despite paramedics’ valiant efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
In a significant development, police apprehended a 29-year-old male suspect at a residence in North Nowra last night.
The individual was subsequently transported to the Nowra Police Station, where he faced murder charges.
Detective Inspector Catherine Flood revealed that the victim and the suspect were strangers, but a dispute had occurred between them preceding the alleged crime.
“It was a random attack following an altercation,” Inspector Flood explained.
“It was random, but as a result of an altercation that took place.”
Flood said no weapon was found on the scene, and said police believe no weapon was used in the alleged attack.
Police said the accused was known to them, and has also been charged with several other offences unrelated to the alleged murder.
These charges have not been made public.
Flood said police are still investigating and believe another person may have been involved in the man’s death.
She urged members of the public to come forward with any information that could be relevant.
The 29-year-old man will appear before court today.
