Authorities report that the individual involved had a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal threshold during the incident.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Following a thorough investigation spanning seven months, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a man linked to a tragic accident that claimed the lives of a local educator and his young son.

The incident occurred on May 16, 2025, when Mitchell Patch, an esteemed math teacher at Bayview Elementary, was crossing Baymeadows Road with his son, Everett, around 8:30 in the evening.

During their crossing, a Honda Civic driven by 24-year-old Logan Fletcher Park collided with them. Emergency responders from Jacksonville Fire and Rescue declared both victims dead at the scene of the accident.

Subsequent to the crash, Park was taken to a nearby medical facility where his blood alcohol content was tested, revealing a level of .107, surpassing the permissible limit. In collaboration with the State Attorney’s Office, law enforcement secured an arrest warrant for Park.

Park voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Sunday and has been charged with two counts of DUI Manslaughter. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3.
