Spirit Halloween, known as the “largest Halloween retailer in North America,” annually leases space for hundreds of stores, recognizable by their famous logo.

WASHINGTON — It just wouldn’t be Halloween without Spirit Halloween.

Each Halloween season, this well-known retailer emerges in numerous spots nationwide, providing a vast selection of costumes and decorations to help people get ready for the October festivities.

This year, Spirit Halloween anticipates hiring 50,000 seasonal workers for over 1,500 stores they plan to open. However, these positions are temporary, as Spirit stores vanish just as swiftly after November arrives.

Spirit bills itself as the “largest Halloween retailer in North America,” and each year rents space for hundreds of shops, identified by their iconic grim reaper logo.

In a press release, Spirit Halloween said they were already looking for seasonal sales associates and store managers to join their retail team.

“With the anticipation for Halloween at an all-time high, we are committed to creating the same immersive experience that keeps our fans coming back year after year,” said Steven Silverstein, CEO of Spirit Halloween, in a statement. “The talent and enthusiasm of our associates is the driving force that brings Halloween to life each year, and we look forward to welcoming new and returning faces for another killer season.”

Holiday jobs are nothing new, but the Spirit Halloween gigs are often the first on the market, and allow workers to get some extra cash ahead of the more expensive holiday season.

Other major retailers usually begin hiring in October, when Spirit Halloween stores are already up and running. But its’ unclear how many positions will be available this year. In 2024, companies like Amazon and Target said they would hire at the same levels as previous years, while other retailers such as Kohls cut back on holiday staffing.

Anybody looking to apply to work at Spirit Halloween can find more information at Work4Spirit.com or can text “Reaper” to 85000 to for more information.
