Justin Trudeau delighted followers on Friday after sharing a rare affectionate photo with girlfriend Katy Perry as part of a new Instagram recap. The former Canadian prime minister, 54, posted a carousel looking back at standout moments from recent weeks, including a smiling shot with the 41-year-old pop star as the pair enjoyed beers together. Trudeau and Perry have been linked for just over a year, after first fueling romance speculation when they were seen dining together in Montreal last July. Around six months later, they took their relationship public on Instagram in December.

The post quickly drew warm reactions from fans, with comments including, “You and Katy” and “what a beautiful couple.” Trudeau’s summer highlights also featured time with Michelle and Barack Obama, his daughter Ella-Grace’s graduation, and a family getaway. “Grateful for the moments that made this summer so special, and for the people I got to share them with,” he wrote. Trudeau was previously married to Sophie Gregoire for 18 years before the pair announced their separation in August 2023. They share three children: Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 17, and Hadrien, 12.

Earlier this summer, Trudeau and Perry stepped out together for their red carpet debut at the 25th Annual Tribeca Festival, where they attended the premiere of the concert film Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris. Speaking to People at the event, Perry appeared to reference her relationship, saying, “I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life. I am very in love. And actually, that show was after I met the love of my life and so I felt very anchored by that because I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite.” Perry was previously in a nine-year relationship with actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares five-year-old daughter Daisy, before the couple split midway through last year. Bloom also has a 15-year-old son, Flynn, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

Perry and Bloom, who were seen vacationing amicably with Daisy and Flynn last summer, began dating in 2016 and became engaged in 2019, though they never married. Following news of their split last year, representatives for the former couple told Our News Outlet that they had “been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.” The insiders added, “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.” Perry was also briefly married to comedian Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.
