Katy Perry put her relationship with Justin Trudeau front and center on Monday night as the couple attended the New York premiere of her concert film during the 25th annual Tribeca Festival. The 41-year-old pop star, who was first linked to the former Canadian prime minister last year, had Trudeau by her side for the screening of Katy Perry The Lifetimes Tour – Live From Paris. Speaking during a post-screening Q&A, Perry reflected on the 91-date tour and revealed that she and Trudeau were already together when the Paris performances were filmed in November 2025. “I would say now at the end of 91 shows, I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life. I am very in love,” she said, adding, “Actually, that show was after I met the love of my life, and so I felt very anchored by that, because I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite.”
Finding Balance and Wholeness Through Motherhood
Perry expanded on the metaphor, explaining that love has brought her a sense of steadiness. “I fly super high and like touch the veiled cosmos, and sometimes I need to be anchored, so to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now,” she said. The singer also spoke warmly about the personal side of the experience, including what it meant to share parts of her professional world with her daughter, Daisy. “It was amazing,” Perry said. “I think as mothers and fathers, we’re just modeling something to our children, and all we can hope for is that they will grow up into better versions of ourselves and themselves, right?”
Leading by Example for Her Daughter
She said bringing children into those moments can be meaningful when parents are living honestly and with purpose. “And so, I think if I’m out there living my most authentic, free, supported, empowered, smart, sexy life, she’s going to have a pattern to follow, a model to follow. And so any parent, I think, that can actually do that, I think it’s really valuable to bring your kids to work,” Perry added. She also joked that Daisy had recently FaceTimed her with a very specific request: tickets to the World Cup. “She’s a force. She tells me exactly what she thinks,” Perry said.
Perry Pushes Through Heartbreak Onstage
The conversation also turned to the emotional strain Perry was facing around the time the concert film was shot, as she navigated her separation from Orlando Bloom. Asked how she managed to deliver such elaborate performances while dealing with heartbreak, Perry was candid about the toll it took. “It’s like sadness doesn’t discriminate. Grief does not discriminate. Pain does not discriminate. Everybody is subjected to it in their own ways,” she said. “And last year was probably one of the hardest years of my life, and I went through a f*** ton, and there were days that were really, really, really, really hard, and I just kept going because I made a promise to my fans. I made a promise to my daughter. I made a promise to myself, and I got through it.”
Radiant Resilience on the Red Carpet
Perry said pushing through that difficult period ultimately reshaped how she viewed success. “I walked through the fire because everybody has to walk through their own fire, and if you’re walking through hell, you keep going because on the other side of hell is definitely heaven,” she continued. “It was the most successful tour of my life, though, because it’s all about how you measure success.” On the red carpet, the Firework singer appeared elegant in a sleeveless white dress with ruched detailing at the waist that fell past her ankles.
Stylish Looks and Sweet Moments
She completed the look with closed-toe white heels and wore her hair in a polished updo. Trudeau, 54, matched the formal tone of the evening in a classic black suit paired with a white dress shirt. The couple appeared relaxed and affectionate as they posed together, sharing a laugh at one point while Perry placed a hand on his chest. The premiere marked the official Tribeca Festival debut of her documentary concert film, which was showcased as part of the festival’s ongoing lineup.
Celebrating a Record-Breaking Paris Performance
According to the festival’s description, the film “blends powerhouse performances, exhilarating cinematography, and intimate moments to bring audiences into the spectacular world of this creative artist.” Katy Perry The Lifetimes Tour – Live From Paris features footage captured during Perry’s November shows at the Accor Arena in Paris. The Lifetimes Tour launched last year and became a major commercial success, reportedly bringing in about $134 million and selling more than 1 million tickets. Trudeau’s appearance at the screening underscored his support as Perry celebrated the project’s release.
Perry and Trudeau Go Public in Paris
Their public romance has unfolded gradually. Later that month, Trudeau was seen in the crowd at one of Perry’s Lifetimes Tour concerts. In October 2025, the pair confirmed their relationship publicly when they were photographed holding hands during a night out in Paris for Perry’s 41st birthday. The following month, a source told People that Perry was “having a lot of fun” with Trudeau as the relationship developed. “Justin keeps making a big effort to see her and she’s excited about it. [She has] a lot of fun with him. It’s exactly what she needs right now,” the source said at the time.
Relationship Brings Joy and Laughter
The politician is also ‘happier’ since being romantically linked to Perry. ‘Stresses are greatly diminished. And he is intrigued with Katy. They have fun together, laugh a lot, talk about everything.’ And late last year in December, the couple went Instagram official as the songstress shared a post featuring her beau from their trip to Tokyo. Back in February, a separate source told the Daily Mail that the pair’s ‘relationship is going great.’
From Surprise Romance to Social Media Official
‘Nobody actually believed it was ever going to be a thing, and now that it is, everyone wants them to get married and have children.’ Trudeau has since made more appearances on her Instagram page, and the couple spent time at the Coachella Music Festival in April. In June of last year, it was revealed that Perry had officially separated from Orlando Bloom. The exes are parents to daughter Daisy, five.
Perry Dances Through Technical Glitch
The former prime minister of Canada also split from wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in 2023 following 18 years of marriage and welcoming three children together. And during the screening of her concert film at the festival on Monday, Perry had the chance to share a lighthearted moment with other attendees. According to an eyewitness, the movie suddenly cut off, and Perry began to sing and dance to her hit tracks still playing inside. Others joined in as they belted out lyrics and were also seen jumping to their feet, while some whipped out their phones to film the moment.
