Four family members are dead in Tennessee after a father reportedly shot his wife and two daughters before turning the gun on himself.
According to the New York Post and The Tennessean, an unidentified man called 911 early Friday from his home in Goodlettsville and told the dispatcher that he had shot his wife, 32, and their 6- and 13-year-old daughters, apparently believing he had killed them all instantly.
An off-duty cop was reportedly near the scene and went to the home in an attempt to get the suspect, still on the line with 911, to surrender while communicating over a PA system. But the 911 dispatcher soon heard a gunshot, and the suspect is believed to have shot himself.
Responding officers found the adult male dead in the living room and the 6-year-old girl dead in a bedroom. The adult female and the 13-year-old girl were mortally wounded but still alive, though both later died at a hospital; the mother following surgery.
Authorities have not yet identified any of the decedents, or commented on a possible motive.
