West Ham are in a race against time to sign a striker before the summer’s window closes, with the club having failed to reach an agreement in talks for Corinthians over Yuri Alberto.
That is despite Tim Steidten, the club’s technical director, having flown to Brazil to try to seal the deal.
Steidten has now returned to London with West Ham considering other options, including PSG’s Hugo Ekitike and Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri. Juventus midfielder Filip Kostic is also a target.
Asked specifically about Ekitike, he said: ‘You wouldn’t get me commenting on a player from another club.’
