Tottenham Hotspur delivered a stunning performance against Aston Villa, securing a 4-0 victory that boosts their Premier League’s top four chances.

The match was a crucial one for Spurs, who trailed Unai Emery’s side by five points before kick-off, with defeat potentially widening the gap.

After a goalless first half, Tottenham exploded into action in the second period.

James Maddison opened the scoring shortly after the break, connecting with a cross to put Spurs in the lead.

The lead was quickly doubled when Brennan Johnson unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner of the net.

Villa’s hopes of a comeback were dealt a severe blow when captain John McGinn was shown a red card for a reckless tackle on Destiny Udogie, reducing Villa to ten men.

Son Heung-min capitalized on the advantage, adding a third goal in injury time.

The scoring was rounded off by Timo Werner, who netted a fourth with a well-placed finish past the stranded Emi Martinez.
