The former executive assistant for Vontae Davis has opened up on the harrowing scenes at his Florida home on the day he was found dead in his home gym.

Former Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae, 35 – brother of Super Bowl winner Vernon Davis – was found slumped naked on the floor of his gym when a housekeeper arrived for work in April 2024. 

It emerged earlier this week that th 35-year-old had consumed a cocktail of drugs including methamphetamine and MDMA before he collapsed and died from what a medical examiner said was ‘undertermined’ causes.

Now, speaking to The Palm Beach Post, Cristina M. Friebe said she was called by a personal assistant for Davis who was on only her fouth day in the job when she found him dead.

As Friebe answered the call, she was told: ‘There’s blood everywhere.’

Friebe said she raced to his house but ‘I knew he was dead… (it was) one of the most awful things I’ve ever been through in my life.

Davis, 35, died at home in Southwest Ranches, Florida and was found slumped motionless on the floor of his home gym 

‘She (the other assistant) FaceTimed me. When she did, I see this picture of the gym empty and something on the ground. I couldn’t tell if it’s him and I’m trying to drive and see the pictures and on the second line is 911.’

Vontae’s blood tested positive for various narcotics including methamphetamines, amphetamines, cannabinoids, THC, MDMA and MDA. 

There were drugs scattered around his house, according to a police report, including cannabis gummies, brown powders and various pink and clear capsules. 

‘There is also a spoon on the kitchen island which appears to have a burnt marking and there is a circular green colored burn stain on the countertop,’ the report notes. 

Cops spotted traces of vomit in the master bedroom and dark red stains in the hallway, office and garage. 

There was half a pink pill in the gym, a puddle of water from an overturned pitcher and an ‘unknown dark substance on the bench of the sauna’. Vontae was found dead in the ‘supine’ position, wearing only a metal necklace and pendant. 

But Freibe says she never saw Davis taking drugs and if she had, she would have left her job.

‘I never saw him doing drugs or anything like that. If I had seen that, I wouldn’t have taken the job. I don’t do drugs and I don’t like it,’ she said, before adding: ‘The medical examiner’s drug test doesn’t lie.’

Former first round NFL pick Vontae played for 10 seasons but shocked the sport in 2018 when, playing for the Buffalo Bills, he removed himself from a game at halftime and declaring that he was ‘done.’ 

He was drafted by the Dolphins in 2009, playing for them for two years before being traded to the Indianapolis Colts.

There, he stayed until 2017. He signed for the Bills the following year but walked out and quit the game in Week 2 of the 2018 season.
