A deadly multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 605 in Los Angeles County was captured in disturbing video early Tuesday.
The fatal collision occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on the northbound 605 Freeway near Cerritos, where an SUV slammed into vehicles that had stopped after an earlier crash.
Video from the scene shows the vehicles stopped in the left lanes. A tow truck had arrived, and its driver was seen working nearby.
Seconds later, a gold-colored SUV appears to speed toward the stopped vehicles before striking them.
One person died after becoming trapped inside a vehicle, according to OnSceneTV, as reported by KTLA. Authorities had not released the victim’s identity or confirmed which vehicle they occupied.

California Highway Patrol records indicate the original crash was reported at approximately 12:30 a.m. About 20 minutes later, the incident was reclassified as a fatal collision investigation.
The crash led to a SigAlert on the northbound 605 Freeway, south of the 91 Freeway.
The HOV lane and three other lanes were shut down as investigators worked to document the wreck and crews cleared the roadway.
All lanes reopened around 4:45 a.m. The California Post has reached out to the CHP for additional information about what caused the collision.
