After uncovering messages that indicated her boyfriend was unfaithful, a Tennessee woman reportedly waited for him to come home from work and then shot him, police report.

According to court records, 20-year-old Dsani Badgett has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of her boyfriend, Stephen Morgan, in Knox County. Information from an incident report by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, accessed by local NBC partner WBIR and CBS affiliate WVLT, indicates deputies responded to a shooting at around 5:40 p.m. on Saturday. Upon their arrival, they found Badgett in the driveway calling for help.

Inside, authorities found Morgan with a gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics declared him dead at the scene. Badgett allegedly informed detectives that Morgan had been using her phone due to his being broken. She claimed that he had logged into his Yahoo account on her device, where she discovered messages pointing to his alleged infidelity.

The defendant allegedly grabbed a gun from their bedroom nightstand and “sat on the couch waiting” for an hour until he returned home from work. When he arrived home, she confronted him. She reportedly told deputies she racked the gun several times to show it was loaded and demanded he “do things regarding the situation of their relationship.”

“The argument got escalated and Mr. Morgan attempted to grab the gun from Ms. Badgett and at that time Ms. Badgett discharged the firearm, striking Mr. Morgan in the left hand and upper chest chest/armpit area,” detectives reportedly wrote.

Cops arrested Badgett and transported her to the Roger D. Wilson Detention Center, where she remains on a $300,000 bond.
