RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – 8News sat down with former Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger, the Democratic nominee for governor.

This week’s conversation in Henrico County marks exactly six months until Election Day.

Spanberger and 8News Capitol Bureau Reporter Tyler Englander covered essential subjects such as what’s at stake in this election, economic matters, education, and reproductive rights.

Watch the full interview below.

Simultaneously, 8News extended an invitation to current Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears, the Republican nominee, offering her a similar chance to discuss her campaign and the upcoming 2025 election.

Last Wednesday, her campaign assured us they could “guarantee” a slot for an interview this week. However, when we sought to confirm a specific date and time, her campaign remained unresponsive.

8News hopes to speak with Sears in the coming weeks.
