CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois basketball has announced a new addition to the coaching staff in former Colgate assistant Camryn Crocker.
The California native brings a decade of coaching experience to the Orange and Blue and he also played collegiately at Penn.
Crocker was on the Colgate staff for three seasons, previously serving as director of player personnel at Stanford for three seasons.
Statement from Brad Underwood on the addition his staff, courtesy of Illinois Athletics:
“Camryn Crocker is a dynamic coach who will fit perfectly into the Illinois family,” Underwood remarked. “He offers experience from coast to coast, having grown up in California, played in the Ivy League, worked within the prep school circuits in the Northeast, and brings Division I experience from Stanford and Colgate; he has achieved a lot early in his career. Camryn possesses an exceptional defensive acumen and a solid understanding of that side of the game. He’s also recognized as an elite on-court instructor. His greatest strength is his ability to build incredible relationships and act as a connector. He is very intelligent, understanding the modern game well, and will contribute fresh and innovative ideas to our program.”
“I am so grateful for the chance to join the Fighting Illini family and continue to build on the momentum here,” Crocker stated. “I am thrilled to learn, grow, and make an impact on the highest level of college basketball and for a program as distinguished and successful as Illinois. It’s time to face a new challenge, and I look forward to forming relationships with the players, coaches, recruits, and throughout the campus and community. I’m eager to start working and help the individuals and group reach their full potential.”
