A U.S. Navy sailor met a tragic end in his own residence — initially shot in the abdomen, followed by a fatal shot to the head — purportedly by his former spouse. In hopes of aiding others to avoid a similar situation, his mother is now speaking out about her son’s ordeal.

“If your partner or spouse has ever expressed anything threatening your life, take it seriously,” Calvin Wang’s mother advised, speaking to Richmond CBS affiliate WTVR while discussing her son’s 2023 death. “Never underestimate such words as merely a joke or an expression of anger,” she emphasized. “It’s safer to expect the worst rather than gamble with your safety. My son’s experience serves as a warning.”

Christina Wang, 32, is accused of killing her estranged 37-year-old husband — described in his obituary as a chief petty officer and father who “never raised his voice” — in July 2023, roughly a year after the couple had filed for divorce, WTVR reports.

Calvin Wang’s mother told the outlet that there wasn’t physical violence in the relationship, but she knew of alleged issues related to Christina being threatening toward her son. She was also allegedly jealous, to the point where Christina was allegedly making posts on the dating app Bumble that said, “Are We Dating the Same Guy?” and warning others that Calvin was married.

“There was signs,” the mom alleged.

Just a couple of days before Calvin Wang’s death, Christina Wang allegedly took to Bumble and wrote, “This is my husband Calvin. If you see him on this app or any of the others please know that he is MARRIED. And please let me know if he matches/chats with you,” according to Norfolk CBS affiliate WTKR. However, according to a complaint filed as part of the pending divorce, Calvin Wang’s attorney accused Christina Wang of being the one committing adultery.
