Bidens need to be given grace amid cancer diagnosis: Gov. Meyer

() Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer.

Democratic Delaware Gov. Matt Meyer, who is also a close friend of Biden and his family, joined ‘s “The Hill” to discuss Biden’s recent diagnosis and said he was saddened to hear the news.

“We ask that everybody give the family grace and support in this challenging time,” Meyer said. “We all should come together as a country regardless of who the former president is, regardless of what the political party is. Let’s root for the Bidens and make sure they get through this.”

Vice President JD Vance said questions regarding Biden’s fitness to serve as president need to be answered. Vance’s comments come as a House committee announced that it would be launching an investigation into a cover-up of the former president’s mental decline while in office.

Meyer said there’s a balance between the privacy of a family during a challenging time and the public’s right to know.

“What we know now is that President Biden is no longer our president, and this is a man who’s got a very serious cancer,” Meyer said.

Meyer added that no other president or administration has done more for cancer research than Biden has, and his outcome could be much better now because of that than it probably could have been years ago.
