Monday was extremely hot, with afternoon temperatures soaring to the low 90s, and heat index values climbing to the upper 90s. Tuesday will be marginally hotter, with temperatures rising to the mid 90s and at times, the heat index could reach triple digits.

We’re observing a potent weather system located in the central United States, generating strong and severe storms. This has resulted in numerous severe storm occurrences and several tornado warnings extending across Oklahoma and into Missouri.

This same weather system is forecasted to bring a slight chance of showers and storms to the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry on Wednesday. There is a minor risk that a few of these storms could become strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts being the primary concern.

The rest of the week will be mainly dry and slightly cooler as Wednesday’s system clears off of the coast. Afternoon highs will be near-normal in the mid to upper 80s.

Sunday and Memorial Day look to be a little warmer than Friday and Saturday with a few isolated showers or storms possible.
