Release from Gainesville Police Department

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Early on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at roughly 12:45 a.m., following a high school prom afterparty, a disturbance/physical altercation occurred at the intersection of SW 1st Ave/SW 1st St that resulted in gunfire and one juvenile being injured. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover as his injuries are not life-threatening.

Surveillance footage captured images of two unidentified individuals who are considered persons of interest. One individual is a white male with blond hair styled in a bun, wearing a dark-colored shirt, shorts, and dark-colored shoes. The other is a white male adorned in a purple-ish shirt and a ball cap. The video shows both individuals fleeing the scene after the shots were fired.
