The individual accused of stalking, who collided with Jennifer Aniston’s security gates at her Bel Air residence earlier this month, appeared in court on Thursday wearing an anti-suicide vest and without a shirt.
Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, a 48-year-old mechanic hailing from Mississippi, was escorted in handcuffs to a mental health court in Hollywood by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department at around 9:40 am on Thursday.
Carwyle, who has pleaded not guilty to charges including felony stalking and felony vandalism, appeared emotionless behind a glass partition.
He was wearing glasses with disheveled gray hair and appeared to be wearing nothing but a long blue vest.
Public defender Robert Krauss told the court a psychiatrist’s review found him to be incompetent to stand trial.
Yet in a shocking claim, Carwyle believes he is fit and is requesting a second opinion.
Judge Maria Cavalluzzi has ordered another independent psychiatrist to carry out a review.
Aniston’s attorney, Blair Berk, was present in court and acknowledged the media but did not speak during the hearing.
Carwyle has been detained in a correctional facility by authorities and is expected to remain in custody until his next court appearance on May 29.
Exclusive photographs obtained by The U.S. Sun show the suspect on a bus being transported back to jail as his suicidal prevention smock hung off his back.
Police allege that Carwyle rammed his Chrysler PT Cruiser through the gates of Aniston’s property when she was at home on May 5.
A security guard whipped out a gun and stopped the suspect before the police came, and he never came face-to-face with the Friends star, authorities said.
The alleged stalker was briefly taken to the hospital after complaining of back pain before we went into custody.
Carwyle is accused of harassing Aniston including unwanted social media, email, and voicemail messages between March 1, 2023, and May 5, 2025 – the day he was arrested.
He also allegedly called Aniston his “bride” in online posts.
Carwyle is charged with one count each of felony stalking and felony vandalism, along with aggravating circumstance of the threat of great bodily harm.
HORROR HISTORY
His estranged wife previously claimed he traveled to Los Angeles months ago on a mission to meet the actress.
She said he believes he’s Jesus and Aniston is supposed to be his “queen.”
“I guess he was speaking with her. He had the impression that Jennifer Aniston and he were going to talk and meet,” Julia Carwyle told the Daily Mail.
“He thought ‘Maybe she’s just going to meet a guy […] to take a chance.’ That’s the way he was thinking.”
After seeing shocking images of Carwyle glaring in his first court hearing, Julia said she no longer recognizes her ex-husband.
“It doesn’t even look like him. He’s no longer there,” she said.
Carwyle has a minor criminal history, and wasn’t being investigated for any wrongdoing at the time of his arrest, ABC News reported.
A judge previously granted a restraining order keeping him at least 100 yards away from Aniston and banning any contact.
Carwyle remains in jail on $150,000 bail and is facing three years if convicted.
Jen, 56, amassed global fame for her role as Rachel Green in the wildly popular sitcom Friends in the 1990s.
She continues to star in TV and films, including Apple TV+ series The Morning Show, in which she plays news anchor Alex Levy.
