The two Brazilian nuns have gone viral after dropping an impromptu beatbox and dance session during a Catholic television program

SÃO PAULO, Brazil — Two Brazilian nuns have gone viral after dropping an impromptu beatbox and dance session during a Catholic television program.

Marizele Cassiano and Marisa de Paula, sisters and part of the “Copiosa Redenção” congregation, discussed their experiences on Brazil’s Eternal Father (Pai Eterno) TV channel. They spoke about a vocational retreat and shared a song celebrating the call to religious life.

The two sisters then entertained the audience with a lively performance that included singing, beatboxing, and dance moves. Deacon Giovani Bastos, the presenter, joined in on the fun, mirroring Sister de Paula’s steps in a show that has captivated millions across Brazil and beyond on social media.

“The moment felt natural because with Sister Marisa, a beat always leads to dance. I’m accustomed to singing and beatboxing, so the experience was simple yet surprisingly viral, even reaching audiences outside Brazil,” Sister Marizele Cassiano shared with The Associated Press. The sisters focus on helping young people battling drug addiction, and they acknowledge the impact music has had as a therapeutic tool in their work.

“Beatboxing, dancing, and the songs itself, are tools that God uses to reach the hearts of the people we work with. And it works! It’s beautiful to see,” said Sister Marizele Cassiano.

While Sister Marisa has no Instagram account, Sister Marizele has surpassed 100,000 followers since her beatboxing went viral.

The sisters also work as vocation promoters, organizing retreats for women interested in pursuing a religious career.
